The Last Orangutans Wins Best Environmental
Volcom Short Documentary “The Last Orangutans” wins Best Environmental Short at the Miami Short Film Festival Los Angeles, CA – March 10, 2013 – M.Samuels Media and Volcom are proud to announce that their environmental documentary on the plight of the near extinct orangutans has won “Best Environmental” at the Miami Short Film Festival. The documentary, shot over the course of four days, highlights the disparity between the conservation efforts and the illegal logging and industrial practices currently ravaging the virgin Indonesian forest. The Miami Short Film Festival, in it’s eighth year, compiled over 800 films in qualifying for seventy final selections for premiere at the internationally renown festival. Miami Short Film Festival Nomination
We are pleased to announce that The Last Orangutans has been nominated for Best Environmental Short at the Miami Short Film Festival, November 24th-December 1st in Miami, Florida. From the festival. "Out of the 700+ submissions we received this year from filmmakers all over the word, we selected 74 to be in the Miami short Film Festival. From those, a handful of films from each category were nominated and voted on by our board of judges. The winner in each category, as well as the “Best of Festival” winner, will be announced during our Awards Ceremony on the last night of the festival." Bring on the Snow!
After the never ending LA summer, we at M.Samuels Media can’t wait for the temps to drop and the snow to fall. We have several collaborations in the works for the coming winter and were looking forward to exploring the mountains of the US, Canada, and Japan this year. The Last Orangutans World Premiere
On June 27th close to 300 artists, activists, designers, celebrities, rockstars, media and Twitterati packed into the Dia.Lo.Gue artspace to support the Indonesian premiere of The Last Orangutans documentary and the launch of the F.A.R.T (Factual Art Raising Thought) exhibition. This night was designed to be liberating both in thought and action. Guests were free to explore, interact, question, digest, and reject what they pleased. The artspace was decorated with inspiring paintings, sketches, and photographs of the Sumatran Orangutans created by emerging Indonesian artists Tarita Aurora, Salvita Decorte, Kiki Kowara, Eric Wirjanata, Joey Christian, and Richard Olsen.
